Acclimation

Here it is, the end of January of my first year in LA and I've already acclimated to the temperature. After three winters in the frozen tundra that is Rochester, I thought my skin had thickened enough that the LA "winter" wouldn't affect me. Apparently, however, I spent too much time indoors in Rochester.

The current temperature at USC is 57 degrees and there's a light, almost misty kind of rain outside. Not enough to even think about an umbrella (although there were a couple out). Anyway, today I'm wearing a light jacket. It may be light, but it's still a jacket.

If this were Rochester (where it's currently a balmy 20 degrees), people would be singing and dancing. Nobody would be wearing a jacket and people would be relishing the warm weather.

But I've acclimated. It's 57 degrees and I'm wearing a jacket.

I'm still here

I guess I should apologize for my lack of entries. Honestly, I plan on writing more than every couple weeks. We'll see if I stick to that promise, though!

A couple quick things before I head to bed...

Go Colts! Go Peyton! I was hoping for an Indy/N'Awlins Super Bowl, but the Super Mid-West Bowl should be good.

I'll be curious to watch Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis offense go against Brian Urlacher and the Chicago defense. Also, can the Colts defense stop the Bears run? They ran for almost 200 yards against the Saints and given how bad the Colts have been against the run this season, it should be interesting. I'm looking forward to a good game. The Colts are an early 7 point favorite in Vegas.

Also, I don't know if you look at The Onion, but there's an article entitled "I'm Not Sure If I Know How To Treat A Lady" that is pretty damn funny, but all too true...

Florida?!?

Before I begin, I must make sure that people know that I am and always will be a Vol (and also a Trojan).

At first I thought writing this post would cause Aaron to never speak to me again, but then I read his comment.

I'm actually cheering for and have money on Florida to win. The reason for me is simple: SEC pride. Leading up to this game, nobody was giving Florida any respect, even though they were the champions of the SEC. This year, the SEC was the toughest conference in college football and as its champion, Florida deserved a shot at the national championship. The Gators are showing why.

Unfortunately, the only question people had going in to the game was by how much Ohio State was going to win. At half time, it's not looking good for the Buckeyes as the Gators are up 34-14. Ohio State has scored only one offensive touchdown and has looked pretty bad tonight.

As recently as a week ago, people thought that Michigan deserved to have a rematch against Ohio State for the championship. Who knew that if there was a playoff that the championship game would likely not include either of those teams?

On New Year's Day in the Rose Bowl, Michigan was crushed 32-18 by USC and tonight in the championship at half time, Ohio State is down by 20.

So let's go ahead and institute the playoff immediately. Next Monday, Fox should broadcast the true championship featuring Florida against USC (with apologies to LSU and Boise State).

Go Trojans!
